Little River Cleanup!

Target Department Stores and the

US Army Corps of Engineers

worked together in an effort to clean up the Bell's Mill Bridge section of Lake Sidney Lanier's Little River Channel. Nearly 100 Target Store and Corps volunteers participated in the event. Target deceided that a cleanup project at Lake Lanier would be perfect for their national "Good Neighbor Volunteers" effort know as "Water Works".

 

Polystyrene foam from old docks, tires, cans, fishing line and other trash littered the shoreline of the Little River Channel.

The same cove in Little River Park. Only dead trees are left behind for fish habitat. Volunteers even found an old water logged Lazy Boy chair just out of the camera's reach. Ducks were seen swimming in the area soon after the debris was removed.
